> ok, i have to confess, the parents tell me that the kid is overloaded (as usual), and he constantly puts so much pressure on himself, they want me to talk to him (again). you cant imagine that one can be so self-motivated and self-disciplined at his age, and even an adult can't act like this. i have tried to talk to him about this few times, just as expected, he still acts in his own way. i realize it's useless to keep saying the old idea repeatedly, then, well, this time i tell him to make his parents think he's relaxed but actually he still remains the same (err, tensed), then he can avoid the endless grumbles from his parents...umm, end-users do matter right?

Can you please go into how you create your mixed media art - especially for Wildlife and Wildives?
i work with a concept in mind concerning animals and man. I like to play the images on the edge of where society and wilderness overlap. When I'm actually making the works, with brush to canvas, I prefer to be in complete darkness. I paint wearing night vision infrared goggles. I think this better simulates the way most of the animals I depict view the world.

What kind of stories are you telling in these sets?
The primary story I'm trying to tell is that man hopelessly wishes to control nature, and that nature will always be chaotic, seductive, and over-powering. The wild will push a million single blades of grass through a mile of sidewalk. It will win over time because it can't stop itself.

Why the juxtaposition between urban backdrops with wildlife and child superheroes?
All of these works are from photographs I steal, take, or borrow. putting them together to make these situations helps me recreate those moments I actually see in life when I don't have a camera. Birds are hard to take pictures of, they never stay still. Same with kids. You have to get pictures of kids while they're sleeping, those come out the best.

Is it true that you wanted to show, the "world as unique in its horror and ordinary in its natural beauty"?
I said that? Why are there quotes around it?I don't know what to make of that statement...

In these tough economic times, schools are hurting. And yes, everyone in Michigan is hurting right now financially, but why aren’t we protecting schools? Schools are the one place on Earth that people look to “fix” what is wrong with society by educating our youth and preparing them to take on the issues that society has created.

Adequate funding for education is a must right now. As we attempt to position Michigan as an emerging economy instead of the dying industrial economy, we have been working on “building a better student” to take us there. The introduction of the Michigan Merit Curriculum was one of those steps, but now the funding to keep us moving in that direction has dried up. We have all heard of the term “shared sacrifice,” but there is one area of the budget that should not be sacrificed at all, and that’s education.

One solution I believe we must do is to take a hard look at our corrections system in Michigan. We rank nationally at the top in the number of people we incarcerate. We also spend the most money per prisoner annually than any other state in the union.

Now, I like to be at the top of lists, but this is one ranking that I don’t believe Michigan wants to be on top of.

Consider the life of a Michigan prisoner. They get three square meals a day, access to free health care, Internet, cable television, access to a library, access to weight rooms, and access to computer labs. While in prison they can earn a degree. Convicts get a roof over their heads and clothing. Everything we just listed we DO NOT provide to our school children.

We treat our prisoners better than we treat our school children. The State of Michigan spends annually somewhere between $30,000 and $40,000 per prisoner, yet we are struggling to provide schools with $7,000 per student. I guess we need to treat our students like they are prisoners, with equal funding. Please give my students three meals a day. Please give my children access to free health care. Please provide my school district Internet access and computers. Please put books in my library. Please give my students a weight room so they can be big and strong.

We provide all of these things to prisoners because they have constitutional rights. What about the rights of our youth, who represent our future? You’d think we’d to more to secure the future of our own students. Instead, we keep hammering the educational institutions to do their jobs better with less money. It would be nice if our prisoners could start living a little leaner and with fewer resources.

Please provide for my students in my school district the same way we provide for a prisoner. It’s the least we can do to prepare our students for the future ... by giving our schools the resources necessary to keep our students OUT of prison.

it's really true and i have a very strong feeling after reading it in the newspaper. i keep this in my schedule book, and might share with my dearest friends after making several copies (if i remember to photocopy AND give it out...)

一個地方，說起來很熟，去完又去。但是要問這地方有甚麼好玩，卻又不一定說得清楚。

比如青島。

青島去了很多次，近年來幾乎一年一次，有時甚至兩次。

但如果你突然要我說青島有甚麼好玩，我又未必馬上答得出來。

於是就想一想，為甚麼常去青島？答案是每次到青島，都覺得很舒服。一個地方令人覺得舒服，你就會喜歡，喜歡上一個地方，你就經常會去了。

這跟人一樣。我們之所以喜歡跟某些人相處，是因為跟他們相處感覺舒服，反之，一見面就渾身不自在的，也就敬而遠之了。


中文裏有句形容詞，叫作「如沐春風」。

have to solve it, i am really annoyed by myself! i cant stand living in gloom and doom, option--

1/keep sad, until i get used to it

option 2: also doing, and trying to do some sports, right, i hate sports, cleaning my room, and going out all the time to avoid confrontation caused by my bad mood!

option 3: i call my situation sadness leakage or diffusion, urghhhhhhh, please explode and give me a one-off emotional breakdown

option 4: i just can't do it, but i know it's the ultimate remedy, the most useful one, if i can make it. coz it's the culprit of the problem, and also what we both try to avoid, i guess.
