those so-called coaches make the whole thing worse, it doesn't matter if they're not able to teach them well, but please at least don't instill a wrong mindset in the younger generation. The student associations become the battlefield to fight for the power and fame and money(??!!)

超越辯論，樂辯之始

在辯論路上做過的角色很多、時間也長，認知比較清晰。我看到融辯入教的成果，亦窺見辯論比賽的局限。本文與其再彈辯評辯技之舊調，倒不如以一個在演辯途上走過二十年的老友身份，談談與主調相反的體悟：從今開始，超越辯論。

一、正反糾纏漸變無是無非

「超越」是指走出比賽的樊籠。辯論的素養，原是為了觀點之間的切磋商榷，明辨是非價值、追求真相共識，秉持「以真求勝」。然而，若措置失當（例如坊間某些「辯論專家」所為），錯把手段當成目的，參與辯論活動也可以產生嚴重反效果，不單不能辨明是非，反倒無是無非，甚或製造出搬弄是非、無事生非的下一代，後果堪虞。

由於比賽題目的釐定往往要不偏袒正反雙方（以求「可辯性」），使雙方均有相當（表面）條件以辯護自身立場，以詭辯手段長期操練以後，學生容易獲得一種錯誤印象，以為大凡道德、社會、政治議題都是些模稜兩可、人言人殊的爭論，根本無是非標準可言。久而久之，不單是辯論與通識教育容易淪為「論點計算」、「平衡均沾」的遊戲，就是在現實的人生處境或社會政治問題之前，學生的思維方式亦被塑造為只考慮勝負：對賽採取那種手段最為「有利」（最易辯護或最易攻擊）？辯論的技術問題（如何詭辯取勝）取代了真理的是非問題（如何思考對錯）。如此，學生的價值觀便有流於「一切皆可（everything goes）」的相對主義的危險，只以功利觀點決定自身立場，再把萬殊世相簡單分為正反二元。這些都是好辯者要警覺地走出去的。

二、資料不等於知識、資訊不等於智慧

很多導師教學生：掌握資料，就掌握勝負。結果是：你找了很多資料，但都是敗多勝少。為什麽？首先，資料在哪找？如透過上網，則你找到的，對方也有。故此，資料是量不如質，質不如「通」的。匯通運用，才是能力，會聚能力，方是知識。其次，明白比賽本身的二元局限，了悟辯論重點在於思維學養的陶鑄而非賽果，賽前不亟亟於鑽探賽規空子、賽後不憤憤於勝負得失，反躬慎思學問、正視缺失、克己容人。這種君子之爭的品格氣宇和價值態度就是智慧。

某次出任評判，主席宣讀賽規：「鐘聲後開始扣分…」某教練即刁難：「是響鐘起扣，還是鐘響後扣？」眾皆不明其問，他解說：「鐘聲開始與結束有半秒時差」。在場人士無不為其「算無遺策」而失笑。又一次，某隊臨場失蹤，賽會不斷致電其教練隊長，但遍尋不果。事後發現，原來此乃該隊「策略」：與其首場硬拼強手，不如無聲棄賽，既可折騰對方，又易於由負方賽區出線。

如此只以功利觀點決定立場的計量，即使勝出，學生會學懂尊重自己嗎？車開得再好，只是技術。車要開往那裡，方是價值。正覺起於不貪勝逞威、不嗔忿尋釁、不痴戀遊戲。好辯不如善辯、善辯不如樂辯，樂辯正正在於超越局限。

it's the worst decision i have ever made, and i won't forgive my stupidity. and now, what i have to do now is to make sure staying in hong kong more worthwhile EVERY SINGLE DAY.
