無謂新鮮事: 意大利西部片 Spaghetti Western

Spaghetti Western
*was originally created by American critics as a derogatory name for this group of films
*a broad sub-genre of Western film that emerged in the mid-1960s
*so named because most were produced and directed by Italians
*in Italy, is Western all'Italiana (Italian-Style Western)
*most featured multilingual casts and sound was invariably post-synched

Typical themes
*the Mexican Revolution, often seen from a leftist political perspective
*a focus on revenge
*the myth of the bounty hunter/bounty killer
* with the films often taking place on the border region shared by Mexico and the United States
